Thank you for visiting Canal Photo's.

I hope you enjoy browsing the images of our canals and waterways that are posted here. The images on display have been uploaded by myself or the other registered users to show off our waterways, boats, boaters and anything else connected with the canals and rivers. Over time it is my aim to have the site grow to many hundreds of photographs posted by a vibrant and enthusiastic community.

If you enjoy using and photographing our canals and waterways why not post your pictures here for everyone to enjoy. I get much more satisfaction when I know that people are viewing and enjoying the pictures I have taken rather than those photo's being hidden away on my hard drive. Its easy and quick to upload your photo's and they remain your property and copyright at all times.

Below are some guidelines to help you get the most from the site.

WHY DO YOU KEEP SAYING 'OUR' SITE?
I use that term because that's what it is. Its not just a site where I display photos for you to look at. Its a collaboration between everyone who uploads a photo or makes a comment on others images.

HOW DO I UPLOAD A PHOTOGRAPH?
To upload a photo to the site you need to first register as a member. Registering is FREE and quick and is purely used so that your photos are attributed to you and no one else.

Once registered simply select the UPLOAD PHOTOS link from the menu bar. Select the category you wish to upload your photo to and then select the picture files from your hard drive. If uploading multiple photographs you can change the category, title and description of each file after they have been uploaded. When ready click on the UPLOAD/SUBMIT button and you are all done.

We recommend resizing your images to a maximum of 800 x 600 pixels before uploading to the site.

WHY DO YOU WATERMARK EACH PHOTO?
We place a watermark on each photo in the bottom right hand corner. This is to protect your photo from being used by other sites. When you upload your photo onto the site you are giving permission for Canal Photo's to display that image and as such we watermark to ensure that the photo is not 'stolen' by someone else.

TELL ME ABOUT COPYRIGHT
When you upload a photo to our site you are agreeing that you are the owner of the copyright of that image (if you took it, you own the copyright). The copyright of your images remain with you at all times. If you wish us to remove one of your photos simply email to let us know.

ARE MY REGISTRATION DETAILS SAFE?
The only piece of information you give when registering that you may be concerned about is your email address. This is NEVER displayed on the site and so cannot be harvested by spammers.

WHAT OTHER FEATURES ARE AVAILABLE?
From our site you can send an eCard of any of the photographs to anyone you know. Not only is this a nice thing to do its also a great way to promote our site. You can also make comments on photographs uploaded by others and reply to those who have commented on yours.

If you have a question not answered here you can email me at admin @ canal-photos.co.uk.

Enjoy the site.

Paul
